He loves her. She doesn’t know he exists. Time to uncork “The Elixir of Love”.
Nemorino, a poor peasant, is in love with Adina, a beautiful, wealthy landowner, but Adina doesn’t know he exists. To add to his dilemna he has a rival; Sergeant Belcore, who is openly courting Adina. How to attract her attention? He needs a miracle. Just in time, along comes a travelling medicine man, Dr. Dulcamara, with his “Elixir of Love”! This is a delightful tale of lovers’ quarrels and reconciliations, magic love potions and romantic confusions. Donizetti’s comic masterpiece is filled with a colourful cast of characters that is a perfect remedy for any hopeless romantic. Take a sip of this musical love potion and let the magic do its work!
